A stunning and substantial Mid-Century Modern art glass bowl designed by the acclaimed Czech artist Josef Hospodka (1923–1989) for the renowned Chřibská Glassworks (Sklárna Chřibská), dating to the early 1960s.

This piece is a classic example of post-war Bohemian glass design, known for its dynamic organic shapes, vibrant colours, and heavy presence.

Key Features:

  • Design & Style: Features a beautiful, freeform, ruffled organic shape with a distinct twisted pedestal base. This sculptural silhouette catches the light beautifully and serves as a magnificent centerpiece bowl or large ashtray.

  • Colour & Technique: Crafted using the "sommerso" (submerged) technique, encasing a vibrant emerald green interior within thick, clear crystal heavy glass.

  • Condition: This bowl is in mint vintage condition with no chips, scratches or cracks.  The high quality of the art glass is beautifully preserved.

  • Dimensions: Measures approximately 8" diameter and 5 inches tall.

  • Origin: Made in Czechoslovakia.

Note: Most vintage Czech glass items do not have permanent markings (such as an engraved signature or an acid stamp) and were typically identified with a temporary paper or foil label that often got lost or washed off over time, so it is common for such vintage pieces not to have one.   There is no foil label on this item.
